Secret Paths Shawl

Secret Paths Shawl

(FREE PATTERN)

I love everything Mijo Crochet.

Johanna Lindahl is a fabulous designer and pattern writer, and her “Secret Paths Shawl”  is no exception.

You can use any yarn, any hook, and make it as big or small as you like! It’s almost perfect.

For my Secret Paths I used Lion Brand Mandala in the colorway Thunderbird. It’s a bright colorful rainbow. If I had to do it over again, I’d use a lace yarn to make it a little more light and airy, but if you want warmth, go with a thicker yarn.

You may notice that my shawl doesn’t have the recommended edging. I just didn’t like the way it worked up in this yarn (too thick). I imagine it looks better with a lighter lace yarn.

How’s your Secret Paths shawl working out? I’m having problems with the count vs the graph pattern and getting the popcorn stitches to fit within the designated rows. Looking for any suggestions, as I’ve was a row 40 something and I’ve ripped it back to row 20 something and starting again.
I agree with you that the mandala is heavier and if I can get it to work out, I’d like to try again with a lighter yarn.
    Cheers from Canada,

I feel your pain. I get so frustrated when I have to rip back. The count on the pattern is correct, so if the graph isn’t working up right, I’d consult the written pattern. I’ve started a second shawl in a lace weight yarn, and the going is slow but so pretty!
